Chapter Twenty-four of Leviticus states,
Outside the veil of the Testimony in the Tent of Meeting, Aaron is to tend the lamps continually before the LORD from evening until morning. This is to be a permanent statute for the generations to come.
(24:3). The veil was still between the LORD Jesus and humankind, who is The Light of men. This religious statute given through Moses to the Israelites is, yet again, a rehearsal (Hebrews 9:9). Life under The Law was all an illustration carried out with copies of heavenly things, not the heavenly things themselves (Hebrews 9:23; 10:1).
The world, blinded by its service to sin, either had a revelation of the Word, Whom the Father sent—like the man blind from birth (John 9). Or, individuals remained in sin, because they were more concerned with the affluence that flowed toward them—their positions and titles—than agreeing with God and submitting to Him, humbled (John 9:4).
God prepared hearts to comprehend The Priest, Prophet, and King, His only begotten Son, Jesus.
31And behold, you will conceive in womb, and will bring forth a son, and you shall call His name Jesus. 32He will be great, and He will be called Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David, 33and He will reign over the house of Jacob to the ages. And of His kingdom there will be no end!” 34And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I do not know a man?” 35And the angel answering, said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore also the Holy One being bornb will be called the Son of God.
5Now who is the one overcoming the world, except the one believing that Jesus is the Son of God? 6This is the One having come by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and by blood. And the Spirit is the One testifying, because the Spirit is the truth. 7For there are three bearing testimony:a 8the Spirit and the water and the blood—and these are three in one.
(Luke 1:31-35; I John 5:5-8, Berean Study Bible). When Christ died, so did the old covenant, while the grace covenant took effect because He died. The Law became obsolete (Hebrews 8:13; 9:1-28; 10:1-9).
Before Jesus came to say to the Israelites, “‘Behold, I have come—in the scroll of the book it is written of Me—to do Your will, O God,'” God testified (Hebrews 10:7; Luke 4:16-21).
My heavenly Father’s testimony about His Son was by the birth of Jesus through Mary and the overshadowing Holy Spirit (I John 5:5-8; Luke 1:31-35). Before this witness, The Holy Lamb of God who will be The Lamp of the Holy City, Jerusalem, of heaven from God was a mystery prophesied in the shadow of the Mosaic Law (Revelation 21:10-23).
The twenty-fourth chapter of Leviticus describes the lamp of Law’s covenant being “outside the veil of testimony” (Leviticus 24:3). By Jesus, the Christ laying down His life and taking it up again, according to the will of His Father, the veil was torn from top to bottom (John 10:18; Matthew 27:51). The light of The Lamp now testifies to the world through the constituent parts of the body of Christ—we who let our light shine before humankind (I Corinthians 12:12-26; Matthew 5:16).
